“Goons Galore? Alleged Serious Harassment of a Widowed Owner by Several Male Residents Including One Self-Proclaimed ‘Number One Bully’ After the July 20, 2022 Board Meeting”
This disturbing story concerns what purportedly happened immediately after the Board meeting on July 20, 2022, toward the front of the ballroom at the board tables. It concerns allegations of harassment, elder abuse, false imprisonment, and similar malicious conduct.
It concerns a widowed owner (the alleged victim) and several male residents who allegedly viciously verbally assaulted her and physically invaded her space as described herein. These allegations are as reported by the alleged victim.
This alleged victim has been an owner for 20 years and reports that she has worked very hard and diligently on almost every committee, has worked with all property managers, and has never had an issue with any of them until now.
Her late husband was also very involved and active, and he actually built the bottom base section and the wheel section of the current residents’ podium where residents speak at the residents’ input sessions.
Neither I nor Arthur has ever socialized with the alleged victim, so statements made to that affect are false; we are not “friends” in that sense. I have spoken with her a few times over the course of the last few years, but not much at all, and not anything in particular detail.
The alleged victim spoke at the residents’ input session of the July 20, 2022 Board meeting and criticized the management company, FSR. She noted that online reviews for this company are poor and there are many; an independent online search by me proved that those statements are true.
The alleged victim also complained about the property manager specifically. We can also confirm that a number of residents have complained to us about the property manager as well, but we have never reported any of those complaints to date.
The balance of this report is as reported by the alleged victim; therefore, the word “alleged” should be assumed before the word victim and everything reported by the alleged victim from this point forward.
Immediately after the Board meeting, the victim was at the front of the ballroom at the Board tables and suddenly she was approached and encircled by three men who started screaming at her: Chick Coletta, Richard Schultz, and Jon Nast, the latter of whom is the husband of Director/Secretary Pat Nast.
She was up against the tables and had nowhere to go and could not escape.
Chick got in her face, put his finger up to her face, and the three of them were screaming at her and trapped her against the Board tables. Chick yelled, “Don’t fuck with me!”
The victim said, “who are you?” and Chick replied as he postured himself with his chest out, “I’m the number one bully here! You don’t know who you’re fucking with!”
[Grammar error aside (it’s “you don’t know ‘with whom’ you’re fucking”), Chick is about 6’2 and weighs well over 250 pounds.]
The victim commented to Chick that all he did was talk through the entire Board meeting [in fact, I can confirm that he was making nasty comments whenever Arthur or Sue spoke, because I heard them, too]. Chick replied to the victim, “I can fucking talk as much as I want.”
She told them to stop yelling at her. Chick said, “Don’t tell me what to do!” She said, referring to his conduct during the Board meeting, “you were so disruptive,” to which he essentially replied, “I can do whatever I want.”
The victim merely questioned why the property manager received an increase [this increase was, in fact, done at a closed board meeting on June 20, 2022, and Deborah confirmed the increase in her manager’s report which she read aloud].
The victim felt attacked. She was surrounded closely by these three men.
Chick further yelled in her face, “remember my name. Nobody fucks with me. You’re crazy. How dare you!”
At that point, the husband of Director/Secretary Pat Nast, Jon Nast, then yelled, “who are you to attack my wife?!” to which the victim replied, “who’s your wife?”
Finally, Richard Schultz said, “let’s just go.”
That concludes the victim’s report. The following statements are made from my personal knowledge:
It is noted that a review of property records confirms that Chick Coletta is not an owner here. He is either a resident or a guest. He has no ownership interest in any property in this HOA and has no voting rights.
This is not the first time that Chick Coletta has been the subject of complaints of harassment. In fact, he also continued to harass me at this same Board meeting as well, described as follows:
I initially sat down in the front row in the middle of the room. Chick sat down directly behind me despite the fact that the ballroom was mostly empty (there were only about two dozen people in the audience).
When I noticed that he sat down directly behind me, I immediately got up and moved to the far side of the front row near the exit door (the far right side). He got up and followed me there and then approached me in very close proximity.
I had to personally run away from him and tell him to stay away from me. I said firmly to him, “stay away from me! Covid!” because I was trying to maintain social distancing and he was repeatedly trying to get into my space. I literally had to dodge him multiple times. He finally gave up chasing me.
When I got up to the podium to speak at the first residents’ input session, he got up and literally sat in my seat while I was speaking. I then returned and he settled down about five or six feet from me where he repeatedly made snide comments when Director Arthur or Director Sue spoke.
In conclusion, the HOA is on notice because I am sending this report to every single Board member due to the serious security threat reported herein.
It appears that perhaps the HOA should hire an armed security guard to protect the women in this community not only at Board meetings, but in the common areas because there are similar reports about harassment and bullying in those areas as well.
Some residents report that they are simply too afraid or too uncomfortable to go to the common areas, which they pay for, because of the unrelenting harassment and bullying.
From this point forward, until the HOA secures that protection, Arthur will remain in the ballroom after Board meetings and escort out the women who are there alone and request his assistance.
This is no longer a safe environment for people to speak freely at an open board meeting and in the common areas. That is a true statement, and it is long past the time for that issue to be addressed head on, dealt with, and to be appropriately resolved.
