Stanley B. Roberts
For his kindness and warmth towards everyone he meets.
Congratulations, Dad!

Clue Answers:
Clue #1: Our final Resident of the Month is original owner in Cascade Lakes and my Daddy, Stanley B. Roberts. He is a World War II disabled veteran and an all-around nice guy.
Clue #1 is a photo from 1944 when he was 19 years old and in the Army Air Forces which was in existence from 1941-1945 before those military branches split.
The current photo was taken on June 23, 2022.
Clue #2: Stanley, who was born in 1925, turns 97 years old on July 9, 2022, so happy birthday, Dad!
Other interesting facts about Stan:
Dad was an avid life-long stamp collector who also loved and collected genre oil paintings in the style of the old masters.
He grew up on Coney Island on Sea Breeze Avenue across the street from the boardwalk.
He and Mom, who are married since 1953, moved to Long Island in 1959. He was a manufacturer in the garmet district in New York City before his retirement in 1986.
While still maintaining their home in Cascade Lakes, since March 26, 2020, they have both been residing with us in our home. Dad is a very happy camper who is very well cared for. He loves reading magazines, watching TV, and eating. He enjoys his life!
And now you know a little bit more about Stanley than you did before! Congratulations, Dad!

Clue #1: Judy, an original owner in Cascade Lakes, grew up in the Bronx and went to Taft High School there. That is a photo of the top front of the building. Other notable graduates were Director Stanley Kubrick, Singer Eydie Gorme, and Roberta Alter.
Clue #2: Judy's late Mom was a sculptress, and some of her beautful pieces are displayed in Judy and Lenny's home, including the one in the photo.
Other interesting facts about Judy: she plays tennis, is an avid reader, had a real estate license in New Jersey, did some collection work for a flooring company down here in Florida, was a mah johng player, and loves ice cream, Italian food, and Chinese food when someone else makes it.

Clue #2: Alice, who has played multiple instruments, is currently a member of virtual choirs (online) and sings soprano. She is a member of the Cascade Lakes Computer Club, Writer's Club, Duplicate Bridge Club, and Chess Club. She bought a pool cue and wants to learn how to play Billiards.

Clue #1: Doug, who hails from Ohio, was a self-employed glassblower by trade, using fire and heat to create products such as vases, paperweights, functional glassware, and fancy marbles. He sold his creations all over the country via wholesale shows.
Clue #2: Doug, whose hobbies include pickleball and growing orchids, and who has a nickname of "Mad Dog" in the competitive pickleball league, graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and majored in anthropology, which he says related to his work because he utilized styles from other cultures.

Clue #1: Ken, who loves to travel the country, owns a motorhome and volunteers at various parks doing repair work; his next trip will be to St. Pierce Inlet. His wife, Jill, volunteers at the Ranger station.
Clue #2: Ken, who is retired from a 36 year career at AT&T, most recently as a marketing manager, was a professional photographer until about five or six years ago. He was the photographer for the PAP calendar of the community where residents reenacted movie scenes, and he was the photographer for News & Views for several years.
Ken is also a subscriber to the Lake Worth Playhouse and volunteers as an usher there. He plays tennis and loves his dog Bridget, a West Highland White Terrier. He used to ride motorcycles.

Clue #1: Linda, who taught Physical Education to elementary school children and received physical education awards from the City of New York, the State of New York, and from the Long Island newspaper, Newsday, is on the Cascade Lakes bowling team, and her favorite color is red, hence the red bowling ball.
Clue #2: Linda, who has a master's degree in teaching remedial reading and a supervisory degree for supervising educators, loves everything Italian - its language, its culture, and its people, and she loves to cook Italian food. She's an excellent baker, too!
Linda, who has been a Director on the Board of Directors for the last six years, also loves to read, and enjoys golfing, swimming, folkdancing, pickleball, and talking to people.

Sylvia "Schiffie" Sinett

Clue #1: Schiffie hosts Friday night dinners for her extended family as a tradition; she has seven children, five of whom live in Florida, one who lives in Chicago, and one who lives in Pennsylvania. Friday night dinners always include chicken soup!
Clue #2: Schiffie, who loves to garden and has fifteen to twenty orchids in her home, is Mom to her two youngest twins, Perry and Lee Sinett, both pro tennis players, and Lee is our beloved Sports Director who operates under the contract our HOA has with Perry's company.
The photo is a picture of the famous Bryan Brothers, identical twin brothers Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, who are retired American professional doubles tennis players and the most successful duo of all time.

Arnie Green

Clue #1: Arnie, who is an original owner originally from Brooklyn, New York with a vacation home in Hawley, Pennsylvania, was an electrician, and did high voltage maintenance and testing for 43 years. His nickname was Sparky!
He loves helping people with electrical issues, plumbing, and is a proud problem solver with construction and housing issues. He likes to play cards.
Clue #2: Arnie, who is one of the two main Zoom operators extraordinaire for the HOA Board meetings, has three sons: two medical doctors and one electrical engineer, the latter of whom works for Intel. One of his doctor sons was an ocular plastic surgeon, left his practice, and became a medical financial analyist for a hedge fund.

Clue #1: Sue, a retired teacher who was affectionately called "Suki" by her Dad, was on the Board of the National Council of Jewish Women, both the Hollywood, Florida and the New York City chapters.
As a teacher, Sue taught American History, American Government, Economics, English, and Social Studies in public high school, and also taught ESL (English as a Second Language) to adults.
Clue #2: Sue, a widow whose beloved son, Howard, passed away on March 18, 2021, inherited her rescue Shih Tzu, Rosie, from her late sister, who was an actress and radio producer for NPR and who played Mama Rose in the play Gypsy in college.

He was an honorary Brigadier General for Protocol where he evaluated food operations at Air Force bases, for the Marines, and for the Army.
Clue #2: Art, who sang a capella in a men's Glee Club, and who has a medal for marksmanship shooting, went by the nickname of "Kojak" in the food and hospitality industry.

Clue #2: Lenny, who in his youth worked as a busboy and waiter in the Catskill Mountains, gave up a lucrative General Manager's job at a flourishing Honda dealership, Mahwah Honda in New Jersey, at the height of his career, and elected to move to Florida to help take care of his in-laws.

April 23, 2023: a second resident has now informed me that she was charged $15 today for Lenny's notary services. Florida statute 117.05 (2)(a) allows for a maximum charge of $10 (except for marriage solemnizations and online services, of which this was neither). This was contrary to the promise that this would never happen again (see below).
December 13, 2021: we received notice that the full refund referenced below was received.
November 29, 2021 Clarification to the answer to Clue #2:
Our August 2021 Resident of the Month represented to your Editor that notarizations for residents were free. In late November 2021, he charged a resident for his notary services.
That rightfully dismayed resident contacted your Editor. Your Editor contacted this Resident of the Month and expressed her dismay and displeasure at what was clearly conduct contrary to the representation that residents would not be charged.
Your Editor also provided him with the Florida statutes on notary charges. A refund was promised along with another representation that it will never happen again.
We shall update this section once we receive notice that the refund has been received. Please see our new Website Policy #4 on our Contact Us page which we have instituted as a result of this experience. Thank you.

Clue #2: Murray, who has written books and poetry, is a writer and regular contributor to Cascade Lakes' News & Views. He is also an artist who paints with acrylics and also does very detailed pencil sketches and etchings of beautiful scenery.
